UFC 134 results: Trainer says Rousimar Palhares stopped punching because Dan Miller told him to

Why did Rousimar Palhares stop punching in the first round of his middleweight fight at UFC 134 back on August 27 in "Rio?"
Because Dan Miller told him to.
That's according to the Brazilian's trainer, Murilo Bustamante, who says Miller yelled "stop, stop" while on the receiving end of "Toquinho's" ground-and-pound punishment:

"Just to clarify what happened during Toquinho’s fight, he told me that he stopped because his opponent said ‘stop, stop’ when he was punching him hard. Then, he stopped [hitting] him and thought that the fight was over and went to celebrate. Who can say now that ‘Toko’ isn’t a fair fighter? He is just too naive, but he has a big heart."

Mike Constantino, charged getting Miller out of Brazil in one piece, tells Sherdog.com his fighter never asked Palhares to stop fighting:

"Dan assures me he did not say a word during that exchange. Needless to say that with the loud crowd, the language barrier, the adrenaline rush and every other factor involved -- including ‘do not stop until the ref pulls you off’ -- I do not believe that Toquinho pulled up because of Dan murmuring ‘stop, stop.’ The fact remains that Dan Miller did not say ‘stop, stop’ -- there is no need to argue the toughness and mettle of Dan Miller, however I just have to put the facts on the table after hearing this."

Palhares came under fire for his mental lapse in his 185-pound fight against Nate Marquardt in September of last year. After trying to call time-out to accuse "The Great" of being greasy, he was knocked silly after the referee refused to stop the action.

History nearly repeated itself in Rio.
Miller roared back and put the Brazilian Yeti on queer street, but was unable to seal the deal and found himself on the losing end of a unanimous decision.
But it wasn't without controversy.
