Vitor Belfort is more than just "The Phenom."
He's also a man who is "living the dream," a budding legend and former champion with aspirations to once again reach the pinnacle of his chosen profession. But for some it may be easy to forget that Belfort is still dealing with a great hardship.
His sister, Priscila, was kidnapped all the way back in Jan. 2004. Worse yet, the case, all these years later, remains officially unsolved.
Police did receive a confession from a Brazilian woman named Elaine Paiga Da Silva, who claimed she kidnapped and murdered Belfort, but when police were led to the area in which Priscila's body was said to be buried, nothing could be found to confirm Silva's confession.
Which means the mystery -- and Vitor's misery -- remain. However, Belfort has found a way to overcome his horrific pain and anguish by finding a deep spirituality and faith in God.

"I know one thing. If you don't have faith in God, you will be [devastated] by this situation your whole life," Belfort told Philly.com. "I know people who have power and money and authority. They think they're unstoppable. But life without God is like a car without a driver. You have to understand that anything you can't resolve, God will. I have a dream, and I'm living my dream. Nobody is going to take my dream away. I am a very happy person."
Belfort would go on to implore people to act when necessary. Instead of sitting back and "minding your own business," spring into action when the time comes.
You could save a life.
Vitor's will and push to succeed, even in the face of such crushing defeat at home, is nothing short of inspirational. Will he ever become champion again? He might not, but his faith in God and ability to overcome has led him this far.
