PROELITE 1 PLAY-BY-PLAY LIVE MAIN CARD COMMENTARY:
Haggerty here! --- SYKE! Hernandez, son! Let's keep some thoughts out for KH.
Kendall Grove vs. Joe Riggs (185-pound limit)
Round one: The two fighters circle around, pawing at each other. Riggs clinches up and Grove sinks in a guillotine choke that forces an immediate tap!
Final Result: Grove via submission (guillotine choke), R1 0:59

Andrei Arlovski vs. Ray Lopez (265-pound limit)
Round one: Arlovski rocking the shaved head and beard look. Lopez clinches up and the former UFC champ is able to keep him at bay. Lopez throws a kick but Arlovski catches it. Lopez attempts a head kick -- a la an Owen Hart enziguri kick -- but misses and slips to the ground. The two reset on their feet but neither fighter is willing to engage. Arlovski is able to get the takedown and almost immediately gets to full mount. He rains down punches and double hammer fists like a giant European Sakuraba but can't find the finish. Arlovski gets to his feet and easily slides into mount. Unbelievably, Lopez is able to sweep his opponent and nearly locks in a rear naked choke before the round ends.
Round two: The two continue to find their distance and a clinch goes nowhere. Two minutes in, Arlovski gets full mount and begins to rain down ground and pound. Sherdog's stream fails me for most of this round but every time I get an extended period of action, Arlovski seems to be in control. Half a minute left and the Belarusian is landing punches at will to his grounded opponent.
Round three: The two fighters open up but they quickly find themselves on the mat. Arlovski is on top throwing out submissions but nothing sticks. He slips into sidemount and begins to throw down ground and pound until the referee stops the bout. Pretty underwhelming.
Final Result: Arlovski via TKO (punches), R3 2:40

Round one: Gardiner shoots in immediately and Penn nearly lands a guillotine. Penn ends up taking his opponents back and landing and vicious ground and pound. Early on, it seems like this Penn has all the flexibility of the more well known Penn. And then suddenly, a choke and a tap! It's over!
Final Result: Penn via submission (rear naked choke), R1 1:10

Mark Ellis vs. Jake Heun (265-pound limit)
Round one: Ellis gets tagged early and shoots for a takedown. Landing some ground and pound but Heun is able to get to his feet and threaten with a guillotine choke. Ellis with another takedown, more out of survival than anything else really. He transitions to full mount with two minutes remaining and then to back after Heun tries to roll out. Ellis threatens with a rear naked choke but can't seem to get it locked. Heun is able to reverse and get on top. The two begin to get to their feet and Heun lands a VICIOUS knee that drops Ellis to his back. Heun tries to capitalize but Ellis easily gains full mount before the round ends.
Round two: Lagging stream ends up with Ellis on top of Heun who quickly puts his opponent on his back! Not a fighter to be outdone, he Ellis reverses position. He quickly absolves a reversal from Heun and ends up back on top where he submits Heun.
Final Result: Ellis via submission (rear naked choke), R2 2:29

Sara McMann vs. Raquel Pa'aluhi (Women's 135-pound limit)
Round one: McMann clinches her opponent against the cage and scores an early takedown. She lands some good ground and pound but Pa'aluhi is able to kick her off and get back to her feet. McMann clinches up and slams her down viciously. McMann lands pitter patter punches before trying to open up but instead passes over to side mount and then easily to mount. Holy hell, Pa'aluhi sweeps her and the crowd erupts. McMann is able to reverse that before the referee stands the two fighters up. McMann follows through with another takedown and reigns down punches while Pa'aluhi defends. McMann allows her to stand up in the last 30 seconds and quickly clinches up. McMann batters her oppoents with vicious body shots until the round ends.
Round two: The two exchange and McMann clinches up. She executes a beautiful bodylock takedown and transitions to mount quickly. He pummels Pa'aluhi with punches but can't seem to land the killing blow. It seems like McMann is trying for an arm triangle but loses it. She spends the rest of round laying down some ground and pound save for a triangle attempt from Pa'aluhi during the last minute that goes nowhere.
Round three: McMann survives an early Thai clinch attempt and slams her opponent to the ground. In Pa'aluhi's guard, she lands punches to the head and body. 90 seconds in, the referee stands the fighters up. McMann throws a head kick and the two begin to exchange. It seems like Pa'aluhi is getting the better of it before McMann clinches up and slams her down. She goes for a kimura and locks it in! Pa'aluhi taps!
Final Result: McMann via submission (kimura), R3 2:53

Drew McFedries vs. Garrett Olsen (195-pound limit)
Round one: The two fighters try to find their range and Olsen clinches up. He presses the former UFC veteran against the cage but does little and the referee calls for a break. McFedries lands a great leg kick that snaps Olsen's limb back. Another leg kick snaps Olsen's lower limb that and it's surprising that McFedries doesn't continue the attack.
McFedries lands a great combination that busts Olsen open and drops him to his back. McFedries opts to avoid an extended ground and pound exchange and allows his opponents to stand up.
Seconds before the round ends, the UFC vet lands a brutal body punch that floors Olsen. The round ends before any more damage is landed.
Round two: The two fighters exchange and an aborted takedown from Olsen ends with him on his back as McFedries begins to reign down blows. The streaming technology fails me but upon several consecutive reloads I see McFedries dropping Olsen with a vicious right and finishing off with ground and pound.
Final Result: McFredies via TKO, R2 4:04
