It has today been revealed that the UFC bantamweight title will be on the line when the promotion visits Washington D.C. on October 1st for UFC on Versus 6 as current champion, Dominick Cruz defends his belt against pint-sized contender, Demetrious Johnson. The news was revealed by NBCSports.com earlier today and is expected to be confirmed by those at Zuffa headquarters shortly.
Cruz defended his title for the first time just a few weeks ago, defeating former WEC featherweight champion and the only man to defeat him in his career thus far, Urijah Faber via unanimous decision.
As for Johnson, “Mighty Mouse” has been steadily climbing the ranks at 135 pounds since switching to the UFC, defeating Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto and Miguel Torres in impressive style.
