Lake v Mortimore added to CWFC 48, Cage Warriors bound for Wales in 2013

A HEAVYWEIGHT bout between Jay Mortimore and Dayman Lake (pictured) has been pencilled in for Cage Warriors 48 at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town, London on Saturday, July 21.

The pair, both ranked in the UK’s top 20 heavyweights, had been due to meet at Cage Warriors 44 in October of last year but Mortimore was forced to withdraw due to injury.

31-year-old Mortimore (6-3-0), who fights out of Lion’s Den in Exeter, will look to bounce back from his loss to Eddy Bengtsson at CWFC Fight Night 6 in Bahrain in May.

Lake (2-2-0), a 23-year-old from Kent’s Combat Sports Academy, impressed when submitting Rab Truesdale in the first round of their CWFC 44 clash last year.

Mortimore v Lake will form part of the preliminary card at Cage Warriors 48 in London next month, along with a middleweight clash of Charlie Watts and Nick Nembhard, and a meeting of English-based Polish welterweights Jacek Toczydlowski and Piotr Ptasinski.

Meanwhile, Cage Warriors CEO Graham Boylan has revealed that the organisation will stage a show in Wales for the first time in 2013.
“We confirmed last week that we’ll be having a first Scotland show before the end of the year and since that announcement I’ve been inundated with messages from fans in Wales asking us to take the show there,” said Boylan.
“It was always our intention to bring Cage Warriors to Wales but I can confirm that we’ll be staging a show there next year. I can’t disclose any further information on it at this point but I can promise that it’ll be one to look forward to.”
