UFC 137: Brandon Vera vs Eliot Marshall booked for Oct. 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada

"The Truth" is coming to "Sin City" this Halloween weekend.
That's because Brandon Vera has been booked to make his return to the Octagon following his unanimous decision beatdown at the hands of Thiago Silva back on Jan. 1 at UFC 125.
Following that defeat, he was sent packing from the promotion, seeing as it was his third loss in a row. Then Silva popped positive for steroids and Octagon king Dana White decided to give Vera a second chance.
That mulligan will come on Oct. 29 at the mega-event that is UFC 137: "St. Pierre vs. Diaz" in Las Vegas, Nevada. And this time around, Vera will get the chance to send a fellow light heavyweight off to the regional scene when he takes on a struggling Eliot Marshall, as announced at UFC.com.
Vera's previous losses before the Silva defeat, which was eventually overturned to a no contest, came at the hands of Randy Couture and Jon Jones; not exactly scrubs.
Marshall is a winnable fight and one he badly needs to resurrect his once promising career.
Marshall was last inside the cage getting bum-rushed in New Jersey by Luiz Cane, who destroyed him inside the first round and put an end to this three-fight winning streak.
Of course, that run came outside the world's largest fight promotion and it's high time someone lit a "fire" under the former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) contestant's ass and got him back in the win column in the UFC.
But can he make that happen against Vera? Stay tuned.
UFC 137 will feature Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre putting his title -- and legacy -- on the line when he goes head on against former Strikeforce king Nick Diaz. The co-main event will highlight a potential number one contender bout pitting B.J. Penn vs. Carlos Condit.
Mirko Filipovic vs. Roy Nelson and Matt Mitrione vs. Cheick Kongo have also been announced for the card, as well as the Octagon debut of Hatsu Hioki against George Roop.
