UFC 136 – Gray Maynard learned many valuable lessons during his last fight with Frankie Edgar inside the octagon

UFC lightweight number one contender, Gray Maynard has been speaking about the lessons he learned during his last fight with Frankie Edgar inside the octagon earlier this year, explaining the problem wasn’t that he got tired, it was more to do with the adrenaline dump he suffered.
Speaking via Cleveland.com, Maynard said:
“It wasn’t that I got tired. I had that adrenaline dump. All your hopes and goals and everything you could ever hope for, that you trained for, is right there. It’s happening, you know? And you see it. And then it doesn’t. It hits you and you’re drained. Afterwards, you’re like, ‘What happened?’ You feel lazy. Your arms feel heavy. Your legs feel heavy, and that’s how I felt after the first round. You learn from it. Now I know.”
Maynard handed Edgar the sole loss of his professional mixed martial arts career back in April 2008 but couldn’t quite get the job done in January when they met at UFC 125. After almost decapitating the champion in the first round Maynard started to gas and Edgar fought back to a draw.
