Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Barboza said:
“He’s a really tough guy, respected in UFC, he has five fights and only one loss. It’s a good bout. He likes banging, he has good boxing, takedowns, I guess he’s a judo brown belt. It’s UFC, so there’s no such thing [as an easy fight]. We can’t keep waiting for bouts to come, so we have to be prepared and I, for certain, will be prepared for this one.
“He has good arm [submissions], but in his last fights in the UFC he traded punches with the guys, so I’m guessing he’ll want to strike with me. Actually, I hope he will do it, I’ll be prepared. If he wants to strike, let’s strike. If he wants to play wrestling, let’s do it. If he wants to do the ground game, let’s take it down. But, in case he wants to strike, it’ll be better for me.”
Barboza has made an exciting start to his UFC career, defeating Mike Lullo and Anthony Njokuani in impressive fashion. His fight with Njokuani earned him a share of the “Fight of the Night” bonus. Stay tuned to MMABay for more build-up to this one as we get it.
