The next installment of Strikeforce's "Challengers Series" events is expected to take place Sept. 23 in Las Vegas.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned that Strikeforce executives have tentatively reserved that date at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort for the 19th edition of the prospect-focused event series.
An official announcement from the promotion is expected shortly.
Strikeforce, which was purchased earlier this year by the parent company of the UFC, received a promoter's license in Nevada this past June. The company then revealed that Las Vegas will serve as the new home of the "Challengers Series" cards beginning with this past weekend's "Strikeforce Challengers 17: Voelker vs. Bowling III" event.
The "Challengers Series," which airs on Showtime, previously had focused on smaller markets and smaller venues. Prior to its recent Las Vegas debut, the series most recently touched down in Kent, Wash., for Strikeforce Challengers 16.
Prior to the expected September date, Strikeforce is scheduled to return to Las Vegas on Aug. 12 for "Strikeforce Challengers 18: Gurgel vs. Duarte."
