BAMMA 7 – Tom Watson vs. Frank Trigg set for the main event on September 10th in Birmingham, England

The BAMMA middleweight title will be on the line when the UK based promotion heads to Birmingham, England for it’s next big event as current champion, Tom Watson goes head-to-head with experienced veteran, Frank Trigg in the main event of the evening.
The promotion made the announcement earlier today, revealing bout agreements have been inked by both sides over the past week.
Watson (14-4) looked to be in spectacular form last time out when he stopped Murilo “Ninja” Rua inside the distance on the BAMMA 6 card in London, England. Prior to that he’d gone the distance with Alex Reid in what was an entertaining scrap.
As for Trigg (21-8), the former two-time UFC welterweight title contender is 6-2 in his last 8, and has once again reinvigorated his career at 185 pounds, immediately reaping the benefits with a stoppage of British knockout artist John Phillips due to a nasty cut last time out.
Also announced as part of the stackeded undercard is the BAMMA debut of Joey ‘Dream Smasher’ Villasenor (27-8), who will face off with fast-rising UK prospect Che Mills in a mouth-watering welterweight showdown. Mills (13-4) is coming off a brutal stoppage of Marcio Cesar at BAMMA 6, capping off a four fight winning streak for the fighting pride of Gloucester, England.
Villasenor is 4-2-1 in his last 7, but is without a win in his last three. The veteran of Pride, Elite XC and most recently Strikeforce holds victories over Riki Fukuda, Jorge Santiago and ‘Cyborg’ Santos amongst others and represents a serious step up in competition for Mills, who will be looking to add a world renowned scalp to his collection.
BAMMA 7 goes down on September 10th from Birmingham, England and also features a lightweight title bout between Rob Sinclair and Leonardo Santos and the UK début of Ultimate Fighter winner Efrain Escudero. Tickets are available from BAMMA.com
