There's an interesting lightweight match-up brewing between undefeated 155-pound phenom John Makdessi and Paul Taylor, who are likely to collide at the upcoming UFC on Versus 5 event, which is scheduled for the Bradley Center on Aug. 14, 2011, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Tomas Rios brought word of verbal agreements for the pending bout (via Bloody Elbow) earlier today.
Makdessi (9-0) is fresh off a spectacular spinning back fist knockout over Kyle Watson at UFC 129: "St. Pierre vs. Shields" back on April 29. The win was his second straight as a Zuffa employee, having first chopped down Pat Audinwood at UFC 124: "St. Pierre vs. Koscheck" last December.
Standing in his way is the "Relentless" Paul Taylor (11-6-1), who is coming off a highlight reel knockout of his own. The hard-hitting Brit dimmed the lights for Gabe Reudiger with a punishing head kick back at UFC 126: "Silva vs. Belfort" earlier this year.
The win over "Godzilla" snapped Taylor's two fight losing streak.

UFC on Versus 5 will feature a bevy of marquee match ups, including Dan Hardy getting one last chance to go out on his shield against Chris Lytle.
In addition, surging lightweight contenders Jim Miller and Ben Henderson will square off in a bout that may very well go a long way in determining the next number one contender to the 155-pound title.
Rounding out the main card are match-ups pitting "The American Psycho" Stephan Bonnar vs. Karlos Vemola as well as Duane Ludwig vs. Amir Sadollah.
