UFC medical suspensions and injuries for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 13 Finale

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today issued its list of medical suspensions for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 13 Finale which took place on Saturday, June 4, 2011, from "The Pearl" at the Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
With several of the bouts ending early (and violently), there were quite a few fighters who were flagged follow up visits with their doctors.
Chief among them is Kyle Kingsbury, who made have won the battle against Fabio Maldonado when he defeated him via close unanimous decision, but lost the war, as he suffered a nasty broken left orbital that could have him riding the pine until Dec. 2.
"Kingsbu" will need clearance from an ophthalmologist before returning to the cage but still faces a mandatory suspension until July 20, as does Maldonado.
Joining him on the injured reserves is Danny Downes, who survived a second round kimura courtesy of Jeremy Stephens without tapping but it may have come at the expense of his shoulder.
"Danny Boy" must have his left shoulder and right hand cleared by an orthopedic doctor or he'll be on the bench until Dec. 2. Even if cleared, he'll be sitting on the sidelines until July 20.

Kyle Kingsbury: Must clear left orbital fracture by an ophthalmologist or ENT or no contest until 12/02/11, minimum suspension no contest until 07/20/11, no contact until 07/05/11
Danny Downes: Must have right hand x-rayed & right hand and left shoulder need orthopedic Dr clearance or no contest until 12/02/11; minimum no contest until 07/20/11, no contact until 07/05/11
Fabio Maldonado: Suspended until 07/20/11, no contact until 07/05/11
Ramsey Nijem: Suspended until 07/20/11, no contact until 07/05/11
Tim Credeur: Suspended until 07/05/11, no contact until 06/26/11
Chris Cope: Must have both thumbs x-rayed if positive then must be cleared by orthopedic Dr. or no contest until 12/02/11
Josh Grispi: Suspended until 06/26/11, no contact until 06/19/11
Shamar Bailey: Suspended until 07/05/11, no contact until 06/26/11
Justin Edwards: Suspended until 07/05/11, con contact until 06/26/11
Ken Stone: Suspended until 08/04/11, no contact until 07/20/11

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.
