Strikeforce Challengers 16 – Big Wins for Caros Fodor, Matt Ricehouse and Lorenz Larkin in Kent, Washington

The Strikeforce Challengers 16 card went down last night in Kent, Washington, with promising members of the California based promotions roster, Caros Fodor and Lorenz Larkin walking away with the win as expected, but it was the upset win by rookie Matt Ricehouse that was the biggest surprise as he derailed the hype train behind Ryan Couture.
The main event of the evening was contested by Caros Fodor and James Terry. With both men clearly looking to put on a show for the fans it ended up a battle of wills on the night as they traded blows in the middle of the cage. Fodor began to land cleaner strikes as the fight went on and was the more active fighter on the ground and was therefore awarded the unanimous decision win by the judges.
The co-main event saw Ryan Couture look to continue his winning ways against Matt Ricehouse but things didn’t exactly go to plan for the young prodigy on the night. Couture looked particularly sloppy throughout this one, failing to get off with his strikes as Ricehouse dominated him for long periods. It appears to be back to the drawing board for the young Couture.
The other high-profile affair was the light heavyweight bout between heavy hitters Lorenz Larkin and Gian Villante. Larkin put on a show for the fans throughout the fight, showcasing his dynamic striking on route to a unanimous decision win. This moves him to 11-0 overall and is definitely one to watch for the future.
