Maiquel Falcao (pictured) will fight for the first time since being cut by the UFC when he faces Julio Cesar Bilik on July 9 in Itajai, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Officials from Centurion MMA Wednesday announced the bout, as well as the rest of the nine-fight card for the upstart Brazilian promotion’s second event, which will take place at Itajai’s 10,000-seat Marejada Pavilion.

The 30-year-old Falcao was handed his Octagon walking papers after only one fight, amidst unusual circumstances. After winning his November UFC debut in a unanimous decision against Gerald Harris, UFC President Dana White criticized the Brazilian for his lack of aggression down the stretch. Upon his return to Brazil in December, Goncalves was arrested by local authorities on charges stemming from a 2002 assault conviction.

Briefly expected to take part in an Aug. 27 tilt with Tom Lawlor at UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro, Falcao was instead quietly released by the UFC in May.

His opponent, “Hands of Stone” Bilik, has racked up 10 wins and six knockouts competing in his home state of Parana since 2006. The karate stylist from Gentilini Team heads into his bout with Falcao having punched out his last two opponents inside the first round

Other notable bouts at Centurion MMA 2 will see Thiago Tavares teammate Ricardo Tirloni look to extend his win streak to 10 against Dimitry Zebrovsky, and once-beaten welterweight Franklin Jensen take on Christiano “Psicopata” Marques.
