Bellator welterweight champion, Ben Askren has become the latest fighter to target UFC champion, Georges St. Pierre following this past weekends below par performance by the Canadian all-rounder, saying it’s only a matter of time before the title resides around his waist. Posting via his Twitter Askren said:
“It is only a matter of time before Georges belt is mine.”
Askren is currently under contract with Bellator but has made a number of impressive performances since stepping up to the big leagues including wins over Dan Hornbuckle, Lyman Good and Nick Thompson. The powerhouse wrestler certainly has the credentials to take the fight to the ground but I’m sure he’ll have to add a few more wins to his 8-0 record before the UFC take a punt on him.
