Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s boxing coach wants to see him take on Mirko Cro Cop next

Luis Dorea, the boxing coach of former UFC interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, has revealed that he’d like to see the Brazilian rematch Mirko Cro Cop in his first fight back following a series of surgeries, explaining the two MMA legends would put on an interesting fight.
Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Dorea said:
“Regarding Rodrigo, he has been training very well. He’s doing rehab, seeing positioning, but the first step is his condition, his health. He is okay to train, there is no problem. The problem is not the fight, is the training. The workout is so hard and he does it twice, three times a day, so he has to be 100 per cent fine to give the best in the preparation and doesn’t feel anything bad. Being okay, all the team will support him.”
“I would like so much to see a bout between Nogueira and Cro Cop. If it is not in August, it could be in September, October… But it is definitely the one I would like to watch. I saw Cro Cop say he wanted to fight him. They’re two legends, two names… It really would be very interesting for the MMA world.”
“Regarding the date, for me in August only if he is 100 per cent. Rodrigo has a big heart, desire, rage, has already fought without being 100 per cent for his fans, for the commitment and the own respect for UFC. He comes hurt and fight. If he is 100 per cent, he’ll fight. He has a physio team helping and he is totally into the recuperation… but this is a fight I would like to see: Nogueira vs Cro Cop.”
Nogueira hasn’t seen action since February 2010 when he was knocked out by current UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez in the first round. He was due to return to action in September in a rematch with Frank Mir but a series of hip problems forced him to withdraw. He has also publically stated that he’d prefer to face young-gun, Brendan Schaub next time out.
