UFC in Rio – Edson Barboza anticipates a great fight with Takanori Gomi if they are pitted against each other

UFC lightweight heavy hitter, Edson Barboza has been giving his thoughts on the potential fight between him and former PRIDE champion, Takanori Gomi on the UFC in Rio card on August 27th, explaining he wouldn’t run from a stand-up war and he anticipates it would be a great fight.
Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Barboza said:
“But as my manager, Alex Davis, said: it’s just rumors. I was also caught by surprise when I read the new, but I was glad because I’ve always watched him fighting. I’m a MMA pro and UFC employee, and I’ll fight whoever they tell me to.”
It could be a great fight, I wouldn’t run from striking with him. But as my manager said, it’s just rumors, but I’d be happy to have this opportunity.”
Barboza has made an exciting start to his UFC career, defeating Mike Lullo and Anthony Njokuani in impressive fashion. His fight with Njokuani earned him a share of the “Fight of the Night” bonus.
