Middleweight masher Wanderlei Silva has been openly campaigning for a bout against Chris Leben, which, let's be honest, sounds fantastic.
"The Crippler" also has no qualms about getting in the cage and letting the leather fly.
But is that what UFC President Dana White wants? Ariel Helwani gets the answer:
"No, that's what Wanderlei wants, that's not the fight we want for Wanderlei. We want Vitor Belfort. Wanderlei vs. Vitor, that's the fight I want. Wanderlei knows I want that fight (and) Vitor is ready to roll. I don't know (if Wanderlei wants that), but let's find out. Run and tweet that, homeboy!"Well, are you ready to run and tweet that, Maniacs? Is a rematch against Belfort more appealing than a fight against Leben?
Silva originally went head on with "The Phenom" all the way back in 1998, a bout he lost via lightning fast knockout in just 44 seconds.
That was before he built his legendary reputation as "The Axe Murderer." Would a second dance inside the Octagon yield a different result?
And considering the UFC's trip to Rio de Janiero in August just so happens to coincide with Silva's return from injury, does this fight between two Brazilian brawlers make too much sense not to make?
