UFC Fight Night 24: Leonard Garcia vs Chan Sung Jung booked with Nam Phan injured
The 2010 "Fight of the Year" is coming to 2011.
That's because Nam Phan has suffered an injury and will no longer be fighting Leonard Garcia at UFC Fight Night 24 on March 26 in Seattle. Instead, the one and only Chan Sung Jung will step in to fill the vacancy.
The promotion announced the switch on their official Twitter account earlier today.
Garcia and Jung originally went to war at the "Aldo vs. Faber" event back in April 2010 in what color commentator Joe Rogan coined, "the Fight of the Decade."
After three rounds of thrilling back-and-forth action, "The Korean Zombie" fell victim to what's become known as "The Garcia Split," as the judges awarded "Bad Boy" the split decision victory.
Despite the unpopular decision rendered that night, the bout is still widely considered the best in the history of the WEC.
So why not see if they can replicate it in the UFC?
Chan Sung Jung's loss to Garcia, which was his debut with the WEC, was his second in three fights after opening his career with nine consecutive victories.
His run of misfortune would continue in his next fight against George Roop, as he was viciously knocked out in the second round via head kick destruction.
Ouch.
"The Zombie" has been spending time with Team Alpha Male as of late, who have been helping him get acclimated with America while also sharpening his game.
But have they done enough to get him ready for his big rematch against Garcia in just 10 days?
Stay tuned.
UFC Fight Night 24 will feature Antonio Rogerio Nogueira taking on up-and-coming highly touted light heavyweight prospect, Phil Davis. Dan Hardy vs. Anthony Johnson is also set for the card.
