And the plot thickens. Speculation will continue to run rampant regarding the potential problem presented by Jon Jones and Rashad Evans fighting at such a high level in the same weight class. Because when two guys do as well as they both have, eventually their paths will cross -- and if things work out the way the way Team Greg Jackson wants them to, "Bones" could very well be the 205-pound titleholder after his bout against Mauricio Rua at UFC 128 in just two weeks on March 19. And for all intents and purposes, Evans is still technically the number one contender to that very same belt. However, "Suga" has remained steadfast in his refusal to fight any of his friends or training partners; to which they all responded in kind. This time though, when asked by Ariel Helwani if he would take the fight were it ever offered to him, Jones, in a somewhat shocking twist, remarked that if UFC President Dana White said it absolutely had to happen then he would sign on the dotted line. Not because he would want to, but because he wouldn't want to lose his job over it. Far be it from me to think the world's largest fight promotion would do such a thing but it's clearly something weighing on the mind of one of the companies youngest and brightest stars.
