Gina Carano vs. Amanda Nunes off the table according to leading Strikeforce official

It appears yesterday’s rumour of a fight between the face of women’s mixed martial arts, Gina Carano and top rated up-and-comer, Amanda Nunes has turned out not to be true after a leading official with Strikeforce ruled it out.
Speaking via MMAJunkie.com Chris Vender, the manager of Nunes, said:
“This fight is not happening. Strikeforce has not contacted us about Gina at all. If they did offer us Gina, obviously we would take it in a second. But they have not. I just got off the phone with (Strikeforce representative) Shannon Knapp, and she said Amanda is not even on the short list of opponents for Gina. I didn’t think they were going to give Gina (to) Amanda in her first fight back.”
The California based promotion will have to tread carefully if they want to keep Carano around long-term as she is returning from almost two years away from the cage due to a flourishing movie career and any further disappointment inside the cage could see her walk away from the sport for good.
