Dan Henderson crowned the news Strikeforce light heavyweight champion after knocking out “Feijao” in the third

MMA legend, Dan Henderson added another major title to his collection tonight in Columbus, Ohio, defeating Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante via knockout in the third round to be crowned the new Strikeforce light heavyweight champion.
Cautious start from both men. Big leg kick from Cavalcante lands, Henderson smiles. Henderson continues to stalk the champion who misses with a wild left. Cavalcante lands a leg kick but Henderson nails him with a series of punches that rock the champ. Cavalcante comes back and puts Henderson down with a big punch and looks to capitalise. Henderson gets his wits together and quickly scores with a takedown, putting Cavalcante on his back. Henderson looks to work from the guard, happy to hang out in the guard and land a series of punches. The referee stands them up and they continue. Henderson comes forward swinging before tying the Brazilian up against the fence. Henderson lands a knee before digging to the ribs with a punch. Cavalcante gets off the fence for a moment as they exchange big knees. The referee separates them again but nothing happens in the final ten seconds. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Henderson.
Big leg kick from Henderson this time lands. He soon follows up with a right hand as he stalks Cavalcante around the cage. Cavalcante drops down for the takedown but Henderson stuffs it and puts the Brazilian up against the fence. Knees land from Henderson before dropping down for a single leg. Cavalcante defends but he can’t shake Henderson off. The pair struggle but it ends up with Henderson on top in half-guard. Cavalcante scrambles and manages to get on top as Henderson looks to pass. Can the Brazilian now mount some offence? Cavalcante with a series of punches to the ribs but he’s not exactly landing anything of series note. The referee stands them up. High kick misses from Cavalcante before swinging wildly and again missing. Henderson with a Superman punch which connects before landing a leg kick soon after. Another Superman punch from Henderson before clinching and taking the fight once again to the ground. Elbows to the thigh from Henderson as the round comes to an end. Hard leg kick from Cavalcante lands before Henderson pours it on with a flurry of punches. The pair clinch for a moment but Cavalcante shakes free. Henderson lands a big right hand which drops Cavalcante to the canvas. Henderson postures up and lands bomb after bomb from the back of Cavalcante putting him out if he wasn’t already. New champion!
