Mike Brown reveals he has a strange heart condition to contend with as well as his “rubber finger”

Former WEC featherweight champion, Mike Brown has revealed he has more to contend with than the torn ligament in his finger after he developed an abnormal condition with his heart prior to his last two fights inside the octagon.
Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Brown said:
“That should be a cakewalk fight for me. Rani Yahya has better jiu jitsu than me, no doubt about it, but I’m stronger and have way better wrestling. I hit harder. It just didn’t happen.”
“I tore a ligament in my finger, completely snapped it. My finger was like a rubber finger bending any which way, any time. It was in a scramble early. I don’t know if I caught it on him or the cage. I went to grab him, and I couldn’t grab him very well. I looked, and my finger was bent the wrong way. My hand was not working properly.”
“I can’t blame the fight on that (the injury). There was a lot going on. It was one of the worst performances I’ve ever had. It just breaks my heart. I can’t even tell you how bad it hurts. I’m in a cast for five weeks, and I need four weeks of rehab.”
Brown then revealed that he had a more serious situation to deal with moving forward, a possible condition with his heart.
“I am seeing a cardiologist. It’s something to do with my heart rate not being right. It happened in the middle of camp. We thought we were overtraining because I was peaking hard, and all the sudden, I started getting more and more tired really quickly. It didn’t make any sense. I’d be sparring for half a round, and I was getting exhausted. But two weeks before, I was mowing through everyone in camp.”
“My body shut down. I had this weird lactic acid build-up real early. It’s the most bizarre thing. It just wasn’t me.”
The American Top Team trained star has lost four of his last six fights including defeats at the hands of Jose Aldo, Diego Nunes and Rani Yahya, the latter of which he stepped in at short notice for the injured Chan Sung Jung. The fighter is currently at home nursing a torn ligament in his left hand following surgery.
