Mauricio “Shogun” Rua confirms he’s open to fighting Anderson Silva down the line

UFC light heavyweight champion, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has revealed that he’d be willing to step into the octagon to face current middleweight king-pin, Anderson Silva at some point in the future, although for now the title defence next month at UFC 128 is all that’s occupying his thoughts.
Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Rua said:
“Now I’m focused on Jon Jones. It’s a sin to speak about my next fight when I’m thinking about a man like Jon Jones. So I’m focused on him, but I already answered. It’s obvious I’d fight Anderson. I respect him as a friend and professional, but I also am a professional. Yes, I’d fight him.”
Some fans have said that they’d like to see “Shogun” take on “The Spider” more than seeing welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre move up in weight to challenge the middleweight champion for his crown. Much will depend on the next couple of months which will see St. Pierre and Rua both attempt to defend their titles.
