42,000 tickets for UFC 129: "St. Pierre vs. Shields" were gobbled up today for the April 30 pay-per-view event at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Canada.
And UFC President Dana White couldn't be happier, telling TSN.ca "I LOVE CANADA!"
Yeah, that's a record.
UFC 124 in Montreal used to have attendance bragging rights after drawing 23,152 to the Bell Centre on December 11, 2010, for "St. Pierre vs. Koscheck 2."
The promotion intends to open additional seating for Friday's pre-sale to UFC Newsletter subscribers and then throw whatever scraps remain to the general public on Saturday, Feb. 12.
UFC 129 is set to feature a main event between Canada's own Georges St. Pierre, defending his welterweight title against fresh challenger -- and former Elite XC and Strikeforce champion -- Jake Shields.
The event is also expected to include "Father Time" Randy Couture, defying the odds once again to take on Karate master Lyoto Machida.
