Jon Jones reveals he wouldn’t have accepted short notice fight against Anderson Silva like he did with “Shogun”

UFC light heavyweight number one contender, Jon Jones has explained that he would have turned down a short notice call up to face “pound for pound” king Anderson Silva inside the octagon if it had been offered to him, saying it would be a completely different scenario than facing Mauricio “Shogun” Rua who has something he wants.
Speaking via Sherdog.com, Jones said:
“No. No, because my goal is to be the UFC light heavyweight champ, not to fight superfights. Even though it would be an honor to fight Anderson and I would definitely take a fight against him, no. I would have had to put more thought into training properly and studying because there’s a lot that would go into fighting the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. With Shogun, he has something I want. I have nothing to lose by fighting Shogun.”
Jones is coming off a blistering run of results as he moved up the light heavyweight division, dominating experienced fighters such as Stephan Bonnar, Matt Hamill and Brandon Vera before taking out fellow top prospect, Ryan Bader with ease at UFC 126 this past weekend in Las Vegas. Stay tuned to MMABay in the coming weeks for more on this as we get it.
