Speaking via Sherdog.com, Jones said:
“No. No, because my goal is to be the UFC light heavyweight champ, not to fight superfights. Even though it would be an honor to fight Anderson and I would definitely take a fight against him, no. I would have had to put more thought into training properly and studying because there’s a lot that would go into fighting the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. With Shogun, he has something I want. I have nothing to lose by fighting Shogun.”
Jones is coming off a blistering run of results as he moved up the light heavyweight division, dominating experienced fighters such as Stephan Bonnar, Matt Hamill and Brandon Vera before taking out fellow top prospect, Ryan Bader with ease at UFC 126 this past weekend in Las Vegas. Stay tuned to MMABay in the coming weeks for more on this as we get it.
