UFN 23 – Chris Cariaso outlasts Campuzano on route to picking up a unanimous decision victory

UFC bantamweight, Chris Cariaso made an impressive octagon debut tonight on the UFC Fight Night 23 card in Fort Hood, Texas, defeating former WEC veteran, Will Campuzano via unanimous decision to open the nights action with a bang.
Cariaso has a series of kicks checked. Cariaso lands a few nice straight punches before circling away and charging forward again.Campuzano fires back and Cariaso backs away. Cariaso with a heavy kick. Cariaso flurries forward and lands a knee to the chest. Campuzano lands a nice kick to the chest and counters a high kick from Cariaso. Cariaso backs away and Campuzano lands a flying kick with seconds remaining. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Cariaso.
Campuzano looks to press the action from the off but winds up countering from the outside. He puts together a nice combination before Cariaso lands one of his own. Campuzano lands nice punches from the clinch. Cariaso with the shoot, defended by Campuzano. Campuzano with a nice left as he presses the action further. Flying knee misses from Campuzano before he lands a nice hook to the jaw. Campuzano blocks a high kick before landing one of his own. Cariaso with low kicks to finish but he clearly lost that one. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Campuzano.
Cariaso comes out firing in the final round but Campuzano answers. Campuzano lands a knee from the clinch before they break. Kick to the body by Campuzano. Cariaso with good hand speed before shooting in but Campuzano catches him in an inverted arm bar. Cariaso continues to drive and scores the takedown, only to be elbowed in the head. The two return to the feet. Cariaso pours it on, landing nice shots to the head. Cariaso with a nice body show, and a right hook to the head. It’s all Cariaso in the dying minutes of this one as Campuzano looks winded. Another nice flurry from the clinch by Cariaso brings this one to an end. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Cariaso. The judges award the fight to Cariaso 29-28, 29-28, 29-28.
