Nick Diaz on Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos: “I think he’s a great fighter. He’s better than the other guys they had in line”

Strikeforce welterweight champion, Nick Diaz has seemingly dismissed the threat of UK heavy hitter, Paul “Semtex” Daley this week, explaining as far as he’s concerned the promotion made the right decision when they installed Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos as the number one contender in the division.
Speaking to MMABay.co.uk via conference call this week, Diaz said:
“I think he’s a great fighter. He’s better than the other guys they had in line. I think maybe he should have been fighting at 170 pounds a long time ago. He would have beat some name fighters and we would have seen some more of him.”
“He was in there fighting with heavier guys who were throwing him down. They were a little bit too big for him. The way I see it, I’m too big for him, and then these guys were really too big for him and they threw him down. Otherwise, he’d be just as popular as anybody out here.”
“He’s a brawler and he kicks well. He’s a kickboxer brawler. He’s a good fighter. He has knockout power and he hits hard. He can hurt you with one punch. If you hit anyone right with a good punch, they’ll go down.”
“I think (Cyborg) is the best opponent for me right now.”
Diaz is coming into this one brimming with confidence after moving up in weight and taking on the likes of Frank Shamrock and Scott Smith in recent times, giving him a clear indication that he can handle the larger men in mixed martial arts. Stay tuned to MMABay for more build-up to this one as we get it.
