Matt Riddle (5-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) returns in March against a fellow cast member from "The Ultimate Fighter 7."
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has confirmed with sources close to the event that Riddle has agreed to replace an injured Mark Scanlon and face Matt Brown (11-10 MMA, 4-4 UFC) at UFC on Versus 3. The change was first reported by MMA Scraps Radio.
Featuring a welterweight matchup between perennial contenders Martin Kampmann and Diego Sanchez, UFC on Versus 3 takes place March 3 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky.
Brown vs. Riddle is expected for the evening's preliminary card.
Riddle, a rare-breed of fighter who has contested every one of his professional bouts within the UFC's octagon, looks to rebound from a December loss to Sean Pierson at UFC 124. Prior to the setback, Riddle had put together back-to-back wins over DaMarques Johnson and Greg Soto.
The bout with Johnson was also featured on the preliminary card of a Versus-broadcast event.
Meanwhile, Brown finds himself in desperate need of a victory.
After winning four of his first five UFC contests, Brown has since dropped three-straight matchups in the octagon. All three losses, suffered in bouts with Brian Foster, Chris Lytle and Ricardo Almeida, came via second-round submission.
