Likely Locations For Josh Barnett Strikeforce Debut Include Georgia, Texas, & Tennessee

Josh BarnettJosh Barnett is one of the critical factors in determining where the next leg of Strikeforce’s grand prix heavyweight tournament takes place.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker recently stated that while Barnett’s licensing issues in California have yet to be resolved, several states were willing to allow Barnett to fight provided he pass a drug test.
According to ESPN’s Josh Gross, those states include Georgia, Texas, and Tennessee.
From Gross’s Twitter:
“Likeliest locations for Barnett/SF in U.S. w/o resolving Calif.: Georgia, Texas, Tennessee. Again, he would have to pass a drug test first.”
Gross reported recently that Japan was a likely location as well for the upcoming event set to feature Barnett vs Brett Rogers and Alistair Overeem vs Fabricio Werdum in quarterfinal tournament bouts.
Scott Coker stated, however, that there is still a possibility of the event occurring in the U.S. despite the issues with Barnett.
The heavyweight grand prix kicks off on Feb. 12 in East Rutherford, New Jersey with Fedor Emelianenko vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Andrei Arlovski vs. Sergei Kharitonov on Showtime, which will also air the April 9 card.
