Ed Soares, the manager of Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante has confirmed the Brazilian will take on MMA legend, Dan Henderson on the forthcoming Strikeforce card on March 5th in Columbus, Ohio.Speaking via MMAWeekly.com, Soares said:
“That’s the fight that we’re training for. It should be a good fight. Feijao and Dan Henderson, that’s gonna be a great bout. A win over a guy like Dan Henderson, that’s good for anybody’s career. The guy has a spot in the who’s who of the sport and he’s fought against the best, and he has an incredible record. His losses, I don’t think he has any losses to anyone who haven’t been champion. I think it’s going to be a super exciting fight.”
Cavalcante hasn’t been seen since he defeated Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal for the title via third round TKO in August of last year. Prior to the win he’d defeated Aaron Rose and Antwain Britt, also inside the distance. As for Henderson, he got back to winning ways after the disappointment of losing to Jake Shields in a middleweight title fight when he defeated former 205 pound champion, Renato “Babalu” Sobral in December.
