The Sunderland Lightweight returns to BAMMA from the UFC. Despite a decision loss to Norman Parke in the live finals of 'The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes', Freakshow was offered the coveted UFC contract. Fletcher went on to face TUF 16 runner-up, Mike Ricci, at 'UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz' on 16th March, to lose on decision and was cut after the one bout.
Going into the TUF house with 8 wins and 1 loss, the Lonsdale sponsored fighter was coming off a victory against Jason Ball at BAMMA 9. Ball had lost on points to Chris Eubank Jnr just a few weeks earlier in a well-publicised boxing bout. His square off with Fletcher made compelling viewing, as Fletcher who’d previously scored all his wins by Choke Submissions, chose to out-strike the striker, picking him off with kicks for three rounds. Freakshow had originally debuted on BAMMA 8 and became an instant hit with the fans for his scary clown persona and flamboyant walk-outs, alongside his menacing style in the cage.
Colin returns to fight at BAMMA 13, on 14th September at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena. His opponent is yet to be confirmed.
Colin ‘Freakshow’ Fletcher said:
“From the darkest recesses of your mind, that place you fear to go, is from where I return to BAMMA. For too long now, the Lightweights have been having too much fun while I've been away. It may be fun for you now, but I will become the stuff of nightmares for any opponent that stands in my way. The BAMMA Lightweight title is my mission & nothing will stop me. I am back to declare an new era of The Freakshow on BAMMA””
