Former Pride/UFC fighter shot by training partner,
Former UFC fighter Assuerio Silva is in serious condition after being shot five times yesterday, January 29, reports Parana Online. The shooting took place as Silva was leaving his gym in Curitiba, Paraná. The gunman was revealed as Robson Freitas, who was a longtime training partner of Silva.
Freitas had threated the life of Silva for some time the report said. Freitas has not been arrested as of this time.
Silva made his MMA debut in 1997. He would eventually fight for PRIDE and Jungle Fight, winning almost all of his performances for them. After going 0-3 for the UFC, Silva was released. He hasn't competed since October 2009.
