UFC 133 – Alessio Sakara explains the knee injury that forced him out of August 6th clash with Jorge Rivera

UFC middleweight striker, Alessio Sakara has been speaking about the knee injury he picked up during training this past week that forced him once again out of his UFC 133 clash with Jorge Rivera early next month in Philadelphia.
Speaking via MMAFighting.com, Sakara said:
“I tried to ignore the pain until now, thinking I had just sprained the knee. I kept training without using my legs. I wanted to get to the fight in a good condition somehow, but the MRI diagnosed that I broke my ligaments, and now I can’t fight!
“I apologize to all my supporters. Please remember that I am a fighter and that I want to fight for all my life. But now, I must wait until I am fully healed before I can fight again. I hope you all understand.”
Sakara was looking to rebound from somewhat of an upset loss, going down via unanimous decision to rookie wrestling sensation, Chris Weidman earlier this year. Can the talented Italian boxer put behind him his injury woes of the past couple of years and start to climb the ranks at 185 pounds?
