"He has an excellent ground game. I’ve watched his fights for a long time, he has a good ground game, but mine ain’t any worse. I still haven’t had the chance to show it in MMA, but I can fight him on the floor. My ground game is focused in MMA, I don’t only work on the guard, use it to sweep… If you are not careful, I’ll get you and you’ll tap out ... If he makes a mistake, I’ll submit him."
Well, if the former Sengoku middleweight champion wants fight fans to forget about his brutal knockout loss to Brian Stann in his UFC return over the Memorial Day Weekend, submitting Demian Maia would certainly be the way to do it. Santiago fights the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu wizard at UFC 136 on Oct. 8 in Houston, telling Tatame.com he's not afraid of going to the ground with the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) champion, who despite losing a close fight to Mark Munoz earlier this month, has also shown tremendous improvement in his striking. Is Santiago headed for disaster? Or the most shocking finish in 2011?
