Wanderlei Silva vs Chris Leben fight set for UFC 132 on July 2

Wanderlei Silva picked a fight with Chris Leben and today the promotion granted his wish, announcing that "The Axe Murderer" and the "Crippler" will collide in an old fashioned shootout at UFC 132.
From Dana White (via UFC.com):

"Two fan favorites will go to war as Chris 'The Crippler' Leben has verbally agreed to face Wanderlei 'The Axe Murderer' Silva in Las Vegas July 2nd."

Talk about Fourth of July fireworks.

Silva -- who reportedly turned down a fight with Brian Stann -- has not competed in more than a year, remaining on the sidelines since a unanimous decision win over Michael Bisping at UFC 110 back in Feb. 2010.
The Brazilian was supposed to return to the Octagon opposite Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 116 last summer; however, cracked ribs sustained in training forced him out of the 185-pound co main event.
Leben -- just two weeks removed from a technical knockout win over Aaron Simpson -- actually stepped in as Silva's late replacement. And he ended up strangling "Sexyama" with a thrilling third round triangle choke.
It seemed as though a clash between Silva and Leben was imminent -- both fighters campaigned for the match up. But before it could happen, Leben accepted a fight with the aforementioned Stann, who scored a stunning upset with a technical knockout finish of the granite-chinned gunslinger.
Silva wasn't too keen on fighting the "All American," feeling as though his stateside fans would frown upon him beating up a war veteran. So he stuck to his guns and remained steadfast in his desire to sling leather with Leben, which is now scheduled to take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC 132 was supposed to feature a rematch between B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch. However, an injury to the American Kickboxing Academy standout has the "Prodigy" waiting in the wings for a worthy replacement.
Ryan Bader and Tito Ortiz are expected to clash in a light heavyweight bout, while two explosive lightweight bouts -- Melvin Guillard vs. Shane Roller and George Sotiropoulos vs. Evan Dunham -- are also in the works.
