BAMMA 5: "Daley vs Shirai" took place last night (Feb. 26, 2011) from the MEN Arena in Manchester, England.
The 11-bout card was headlined by British wrecking machine Paul Daley in what was supposed to be a welterweight title fight against Yuya Shirai that ended up a three-round affair after "Semtex" came in heavy due to sauna issues at the local hotel.
He promised to make up for it with a first round knockout and boy, did he deliver.
After a few leg kicks from Shirai, Daley unloaded with an uppercut and a left hook that floored his over-matched foe and set up a 170-pound title fight in Strikeforce, presumably on April 9 in San Jose.
Watch out, Nick Diaz.
Former UFC fighters Ricco Rodriguez and James McSweeney were also in action on the card, with "Suave" huffing and puffing his way to a three-round unanimous decision win.
But that's not all.
