"Korean Zombie" forced out of UFC Fight Night 23; Yahya awaiting replacement

An undisclosed injury has forced fan-favorite featherweight Chan Sung Jung (10-3 MMA, 0-2 WEC) out of a planned matchup with Rani Yahya (15-6 MMA, 4-3 WEC) at "UFC Fight Night 23: UFC Fight for the Troops 2."

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned that "The Korean Zombie" has withdrawn from the matchup and that a replacement opponent is currently being sought to face Yahya.

"UFC Fight Night 23: UFC Fight for the Troops 2" takes place at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, and it serves as a fundraiser for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

Jung forever earned in his place in fans' hearts with a razor-thin split-decision loss to Leonard Garcia at WEC 48 that many MMA observers believe was 2010's best fight. Despite the buzz surrounding Jung, the South Korean was stopped cold by a George Roop high kick at WEC 51, dropping Jung's record to 0-2 in the WEC.

Meanwhile, Yahya is a one-time WEC bantamweight title challenger. The submission ace fell short in his bid against Chase Beebe at WEC 30, though he quickly became a staple of future WEC cards after a one-fight stint at K-1 Premium 2007 Dynamite!!

Yahya put together a three-fight win streak with the WEC against John Hosman, Eddie Wineland and Yoshiro Maeda, and all three fights saw the Brazilian claim "Submission of the Night" status. However, since then, Yahya has dropped back-to-back outings to Takeya Mizugaki and Jospeh Benavidez.
