Over two million votes were cast by AskMen.com readers in their annual Top 99 Most Desirable Women poll. By 'desirable' AskMen meant character, intelligence, talent, sense of humor, achievements, and professional success.
"Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence is #1. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian dropped from #8 on last year's list to 398 this year, one place behind #97 Charlize Theron.
Of particular interest to MMA fans was the debut of Ronda Rousey, at #43, some ten points behind #33 First Lady Michelle Obama, but well ahead of #92 Paulina Gretzky, #86 Imogen Poots, #81 Iggy Azalea, #61 Heidi Klum, #56 Selena Gomez, and #48 Natalie Portman.
Figures that remain to be defeated include #27 Adriana Lima, #23 Sarah Silverman, #15 Emiia Clarke (dragon chick in Game of Thrones), #14 Christina Hendricks (the ummmm redhead in Mad Men), and #10 pole vaulter Michelle Jeneke.
"Ronda Rousey has proven to be a sexy starlet and an awesome mixed martial artist," gushed AskMen. "Not only has she charmed audiences on Conan and ESPN this year, but she’s also proven time and time again that she has the fighting skills to back up her cuteness: She won a bronze medal in the 2008 Olympics and a Strikeforce Bantamweight belt in 2012. As the No. 1 pound-for-pound female fighter in the world, she’s a game-changer and is making something happen that UFC Commissioner Dana White promised would never occur: a woman is to compete in the Octagon. She’s the first female MMA fighter to sign with UFC, and you can expect her debut in early 2013."
In a clerical error even more glaring that calling DFW a commissioner, Gina Carano was not listed at all. Arianny Celeste debuted two years ago and #95, and moved up to #68 last year, but fell off the list this year.
