BAMMA 9 sawEwin upset by Leeroy Barnes, after stepping in as a late replacement, and Ewin willbe looking to return to form with this bout. Having earned a reputation for finishingfights and finishing them fast, Ewin now comes with a depth of experience. Fanscan expect a high calibre and multi-dimensional performance from the Britishveteran as he looks to pave his way to a title shot.
Matt Ewin said:
“I’m glad to havethe opportunity to fight at BAMMA again, especially after the last time. It's going to be a hard fight for but ultimatelyI've got a better ground game and wrestling than Carl, so I'll take control ifhe tries to take it to the ground. My stand up is better than what I've seen ofCarl's unless he catches me with one of his big left hooks. Carl is verystrong, but he relies on it too much and tries to bully people. He won't beable to do that with me; I’ll use his strength. He always goes 100% which is great, but thisis not a good fight for him. He has the strength but not the skill. It's great to be back on BAMMA, one of thebiggest shows to be on. I'll be goingout to make my mark again and to get in contention for a shot at whoever’s gotthe belt.”
Liverpool’s CarlNoon (7-2-0-) was on a 7 fight winning streak until he came unstuck against BAMMA-Lonsdale British champ, Jack Marshman,at BAMMA 7. Although Noon dominated thefight across two rounds but couldn’t put away Marshman, who flipped aroundfortune in the 3rd to earn the title. Fans’ respect for the Marshman’s toughness overshadowedNoon’s dominant performance; but Noon demonstrated he had the arsenal of achamp. With a majority of first roundfinishes and a string of TKO and submission wins, Noon poses a dangerouschallenge for the most experienced of fighters.
Noon said:
“The BAMMA 10 cardis packed full of excellent fights and mine will be no different. Matt Ewin isa very good veteran and exactly the type of challenge I need for my return. I respect Ewin but come September 15th I willdo my job and get the win."
BAMMA’s Head ofTalent Relations, Jude Samuel, said:
“It’s an honourto have someone with Ewin’s history on the show. Not only does he bringextensive skills and experience, but he also brings the old school spirit into the cage sincehe’s been around from the early, grassroots days of MMA in the UK. He’s comingoff a three fight losing streak so he’ll be working hard to prove himselfagain, especially since he’s hungry for a title shot. Noon faces a major stepup in class but is equally dangerous to Ewin. It’s going to be a tough fightfor both guys and I expect full on, in-your-face, neck-to-neck action. This hasall the makings of an unforgettable, stand-out fight.”
