Williams has been forced to withdraw from Tachi Palace Fights 11

Jason Williams has been forced to withdraw from a planned lightweight confrontation with Jenkins due to a work conflict. In his stead steps his brother, Josh Williams, another MMA newcomer and former California high school wrestling standout. Sherdog.com confirmed the news with Tachi Palace Entertainment Coordinator Jeremy Luchau on Wednesday.

Jenkins and Williams will clash on the undercard of TPF 11 “Redemption,” Dec. 2 at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif. Streaming live on Sherdog.com, the event will showcase a trio of title fights, with the promotion’s flyweight, bantamweight and featherweight belts all on the line.

Two years the junior of his brother, 24-year-old Williams hails from Clovis, Calif., and wrestled at Clovis High School, once placing at the state tournament. Williams went on to wrestle at Bakersfield College at 165 pounds in 2006 before moving two hours west to Paso Robles, where he joined the BeatDown Training Center last year.

One of MMA’s most talked about prospects, Jenkins won the 2011 NCAA Division I wrestling title at 157 pounds in his senior season at Arizona State University. The 23-year-old finished his title-winning senior season with a record of 21-3, ending his collegiate career with 94 wins against just 24 losses. Now representing American Top Team, Jenkins was initially slated to face Chris Huerta at TPF 11, but Huerta withdrew from the contest with an injury.
