Cage Rage Interview with Lightweight contender Dominic Plumb.

This week Cage Rage caught up with Lightweight contender; Dominic Plumb, who is set to face off with former Cage Rage UK Champion, Michael Pastou for the 2nd time this year.

Hi Dominic, first of all, for all the MMA fans that don’t know of you, introduce yourself.

Hey guys, I’m Dominic Plumb, 30 years old, I’m from London and hold a record of 4-2-0 (1 loss from DQ)

Dominic, you are now 4-2 due to the last fight with Pastou which you lost to a DQ from Illegal Elbow, What did you think about the DQ decision?
It’s weird because when I was warming up in the changing room, my coach kept warning me about elbows. If I am honest with you, I don’t think I hit him on the back of the head and after when I watched it on Sky Sports I still didn’t think I hit him on back of the head. I was so gutted about it, I think it should have been a point deducted and Pastou given 5 Mins to recover; he was a warrior and wanted to continue so the ref should have let it.

Do you think Michael Pastou was ready to continue to fight?

Yeah, I think Mike is always ready to fight, his a great athlete and have to weather and be ready for anything to happen, I think given the chance Pastou would have been ready to continue.

After losing to a DQ how did you react and what did you do after the fight?

People that know me, know I am a family man, I Have a Wife and 3 Kids, which after losing my fight my wife left me, which made things harder but I forgot about losing the fight. She didn’t like the fact that when I’m not a the gym, my mind is still there, thinking of what I can do next or what I should be doing instead of chilling with family time. But we are back together now and she is 110% behind me and ready to help me reach the next level together.

Well you got the rematch, how pumped are you for this fight?

I am soooooooo pumped for this fight it’s unreal, after losing to DQ and wife leaving its gave me so much more determination to want to win, Pastou is such a great fighter and he trains real hard and knowing his training hard makes me want to train harder than normal, however hard his training I’m training just as much.

Pastou trains most of his camp in Miami, Florida with American Top Team, but I hear you have been training somewhere special yourself, can you tell me more?

                 HAHA Team Machine Baby!!

I believe Michael fights very much like Ian Freeman used to, over powers them, pins them down and punches the shit out of them on the floor, I spoke to Ian at the last Cage Rage UK and asked for some help preparing and here I am, training 3 times a day with the Machine.

Training with the Cage Rage UK Heavyweight Champion, Darren Towler must as some weapons to your Arsenal, how has this been?

It is such a great experience coming down here to train with these guys, I don’t know they are eating down here because not just Tolwer but everyone in this gym are monsters HAHA I have enjoyed being the smallest guy and getting battered day in day out feels good.

H

This fight could lead to a lightweight title; does this add extra pressure on to your shoulders?

Not one bit, I want that belt, I need that belt, I am going to get that belt, I’m not looking past Mikey as I know this is a huge fight for me, but I know I am capable of winning and then going on for the title.

Your wife is probably your loudest corner man, lol does hearing her voice outside the spur you on?

Ohh Without a doubt, she always asks me before my fight, what advice should I be shouting out, she don’t say shit like “punch him Dom” or “knock him out Dom” lol she knows what’s what and is a big part of my career, she’s great.

Let’s face it, women know best ha-ha.

How do you see this fight going?

It’s going to be an absolute war, a war which I will be fully equipped and ready for, I got stand up, I got wrestling, I got BJJ and I got heart, there is no quit in me and I am ready to give whatever it takes to get that Title shot. I respect Pastou so much and I am looking forward to facing off with him again.

One last question, Nick Chapman Vs Jimi Manuwa, Who do you think will win and take the Title home?

Poster Boy, Jimi Manuwa because he is such a monster, LIONS EAT FIRST!

Okay thanks for speaking with us and finally who would you
like to thank?
I would like to thank my Wife and 3 kids, Diesel Gym, Team Machine, Leo Negal, Michael Pastou for taking the fight and of Corse the main man, Dave O’Donnell.
