Undefeated bantamweight prospect Rodrigo Lima and once-beaten German middleweight Jonas Billstein have signed with Bellator Fighting Championships.
Sherdog.com confirmed the signings on Tuesday with sources close to the fighters following previous reports from Tatame.com and MMAJunkie.com, respectively.
Though Lima and Billstein have previously competed at heavier weights, Sherdog.com has confirmed that the men will fight for Bellator at bantamweight and middleweight, respectively. Debut dates for the prospects are unknown at this time.
Lima has yet to taste defeat through eight pro contests, finishing six of his opponents in the first round. The Brazilian has submitted four of his fallen foes, doing his damage with a variety of holds. Most recently, the Tata Fight Team representative submitted Heliovanio “Dentinho” da Silva with a rear-naked choke in May. The contest marked Lima’s first and only appearance in competition so far this year.
After winning his first nine contests, Billstein (Pictured) stumbled for the first time in his most recent outing, submitting to an Attila Vegh triangle choke on June 23. Prior to the defeat, the 20-year-old finished eight of his nine conquered opponents, knocking out seven. The German has only seen the judges’ scorecards once in his nascent pro career, outpointing Hans Stringer in a two-round decision this past November.
