Dan Hardy has lost four fights in a row inside the hallowed walls of the Octagon following his defeat at UFC on Versus 5 tonight (Aug. 14) at the hands of Chris Lytle. And, to the surprise of many, he will not be released by the promotion.
We know this not because UFC President Dana White said so but because the owner of the organization, Lorenzo Fertitta, tweeted the following:
"Will not cut @danhardymma I like guys that WAR!!!"
That settles that.
Indeed, Hardy went to war in the main event of the evening, going shot for shot with Lytle in a fight that lived up to its billing. "The Outlaw" promised he would deliver a show with Lytle in his retirement fight and that's exactly what he did.
However, once he made the fatal decision to take "Lights Out" to the floor, he quickly found himself locked in the clenches of an air tight guillotine submission, gasping for air and left with no choice but to tap out.
Despite that, he finds himself still employed by the world's largest fight promotion and seemingly safe from the chopping block forever thanks to his crowd pleasing style
