Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Oliveira said:
“I’ll tell you something: I’m not sure, but I’ll guess he won’t like to trade punches with me, I believe he’ll try to take me down. But if he wants to strike, he can come because I’m 100% ready to go, I’ve trained much Muay Thai with Diego Sebastiao and I’m really focused on my striking, so you can be sure it’ll be great striking in there, man… I won’t guarantee you I’ll knock him out or submit him, but I guess it’ll be a great fight.”
“He’s coming from a win, and I’m coming from a No Contest and that octagon will be heated up, you can bet I’ll make it the FOTN, and if it’s not, it’ll be the best KO or submission of the night. We’ll both bet everything, it’ll be a great fight, and I hope I’m blessed to bring the win to Brazil.”
“I’m flying, man, and if God blesses me I’ll bring this win. I know Cerrone is an experience guy, tough, one of the tops of the division, so if I can get a win it’ll be great. In case I win, I believe I’ll start figuring among the tops of the division. I’ve been working on it for a while now, I got some good wins in Ultimate and I’m sure that if I defeat Cerrone I can join those top guys and, maybe, have a chance at the belt.”
Oliveira is coming off a rather controversial no-contest result against Nik Lentz just last month, kneeing the powerhouse in the face during the second round before choking him out. He had been expected to take on Joe Lauzon on the UFC 138 card later in the year.
