Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, when asked how big his UFC 129 win last time out was, Henderson said:
“Yeah, it was really big for me. It was UFC 129, the biggest UFC event ever, biggest numbers, (and) the biggest live gate. It was big and for that to be my first UFC (fight) … and I think it goes to show a little bit that my career has gone a certain way.
“I’ve taken baby steps all along in my career, and it’s prepared me for the next step in all of my fights as far as (my) first fight being on the undercard, not televised, and the next fight being on TV and the next fight being a main event. I think the baby steps in my career helped build me up for such a big event as UFC 129.”
On his opponent tomorrow night, Jim Miller, who he’ll face in the opening fight of the UFC on Versus 5 main card, “Smooth” added:“Jim’s tough. (UFC president) Dana (White) is on record saying that he’s next in line for a title shot if he happens to get past me on Sunday. So, it’s a good opportunity for me to play upset. I’m excited for it. I do have something special planned for after I win. It’s going to be a la GSP a little bit – but with a slight twist to it. You guys make sure you watch it.”
“Smooth” rebounded from that shock defeat at the hands of Anthony Pettis in December when he defeated talented grappler Mark Bocek via decision at UFC 129 in Toronto.
