A featherweight contest between the first ever Chinese fighter to compete inside the octagon, Tiequan Zhang and powerhouse wrestler, Darren Elkins has been revealed as part of the UFC 136 card set for October 8th in Houston, Texas.
The news comes via Tatame Magazine who were tipped off by China Top Team coach, Ruy Menezes earlier today.
Zhang has had an up-and-down couple of years under the Zuffa banner, defeating Pablo Garza on his WEC debut only to lose three months later to Danny Downes. “The Mongolian Wolf” needed only 48 seconds to get back to winning ways when he debuted with the UFC, defeating veteran Jason Reinhardt via submission.
Elkins also has a 2-1 record under the Zuffa banner with his loss coming at the hands of submission wizard, Charles Oliveira. He bounced back from that one to defeat Japanese favourite, Michihiro Omigawa via decision.
