The blood could already be in the water when it comes to former UFC light heavyweight champion,
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, with his manager moving quickly to dismiss rumours that the Brazilian has suffered a knee injury in training just ten days removed from his
UFC 134 clash with
Forrest Griffin.
Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Alonso said:
“His knee is absolutely perfect, there’s no injury… I don’t know where people take that from. He’s training hard, following the training scheduled with Rafael Cordeiro, Renato Babalu (Sobral) and all the team… He’s very excited or this fight.”
As we all know camps are notorious for masking actual injuries when rumours surface, proving the old adage that there’s often no smoke without fire. Rua will be looking to get back to winning ways in just a few days time when he takes on another former champion and the man to defeat him on his octagon debut, Forrest Griffin at UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
