Rani Yahya says: “Chad Mendes doesn’t do much, but what he does, he does well”

UFC featherweight submission machine, Rani Yahya has been giving his thoughts on his UFC 133 loss to Chad Mendes this past weekend in Philadelphia, explaining the Team Alpha Male fighter doesn’t do much, but what he does, he does well.
Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Yahya said:

“Chad doesn’t do much, but what he does, he does well. He had a game plan. He’s strong and athletic. Chad doesn’t do much, but what he does, he does well. He had a strategy to take me down, which surprised me. He walked backwards, provoking me to punch him, and then he took me down. He locked his hips so I couldn’t do anything”.
“I’d go for the striking. I lacked more variety of coups and hands, because he lowers his head a bit. I’d also train more my takedown defenses, kick’s defense and much guard while on the ground.”

This loss has undone all the hard work he put in this past January when he defeated former WEC featherweight champion, Mike Brown on his octagon debut. The Brazilian must now get back to winning ways to remain a part of the roster after coming up short in three of his last four outings.
