Marloes Coenen defends the way Golden Glory sets out its business plan, explains it’s much better for the fighters

Former Strikeforce 135 pound women’s champion, Marloes Coenen has once again come out fighting with regards to the way her management team at Golden Glory insist all payments are made to them rather than the individual fighters in camp, explaining for tax reasons it works out much better to do it that way.
Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Coenen said:

“My management has proven themselves over and over again. I’ve been with them for 10 years. If they tell me to do it a certain way, I will do it because I trust them completely. In America, you pay taxes, but in the Netherlands, you pay a lot of tax because we’ve got the health system. That’s really good in the Netherlands. If you go to university, it’s only 1,500 Euros a year; it’s like $2,000. There’s a reason we have these high taxes, and not only do we get [deductions] straightaway in the states – we have to pay tax in the Netherlands. Of course, we have to pay our trainers and our management, as well.”
“If we deposit here in the bank, it will take seven or eight weeks before we get the money. So for us, it’s way more convenient for us to have it done by the management, who will do all the tax stuff for us, and then we get the money. When I went to ADCC 2005, the management paid because they only gave me one ticket and one room, and they’ve paid for my trainer and the room/ They never asked for that money back.”

Coenen was just defeated for the Strikeforce women’s 135 pound title by powerhouse wrestler, Miesha Tate, with many expecting her to get back on the horse early next year and restart her career with a fledgling promotion.
